The artwork “Mount Abrupt” by artist Eugene von Guerard. Guerard discovered an image in his head, it was an environmental image and started making it on a canvas. He used oil on paper on canvas, he made hills with beautiful trees on the canvas with dark green colours for the trees and the hills. He even made the skies and the light shining on the ground. The canvas has a textured environment and colour. He even made the painting look realistic. The canvas is horizontal axis, it is of Mount Abrupt, the Grampians, Victoria, made in 1856. Eugene von Guerard also signed and dated it L.r. corner, red oil “Eug v. Guerard *(underlined). There is no line but there tone in the empty dam. There are some trees on the hill, there are textures on the hills and trees too. There’s some balance on the trees and in the clouds and even rocks show repetition.
Mount Abrupt has many elements shown in this piece, such as a creek, trees, one dead tree, a hill and a sunset skyline. The colors in this painting is dark green for trees and grass, light blue and a tad of yellow for the sky and sunset, brown for the creek, creamy brown for the cliff face of the mountain and light gray for the clouds. This artwork is set in horizontal axis and has slight rough texture.
This artwork makes me feel free and looks like heaven also it feels like I’m in the painting. The main idea of the artwork “Mount Abrupt” is heaven and it represents through the materials meaning freedom. The artwork is about the peace and quiet of heaven. He wanted people to think about what heaven looks like.
I like this painting and I think it is a good artwork. It is an important artwork because it is painted by a famous person. I think this artwork is good enough to put in the museum.
