Wearable Art Assignment – Ken Done, Sydney Night
Ken Done is an Australian artist who was born 29th
June, 1943 in Sydney, New South Wales. Ken painted the amazing artwork “Sydney
Night” when he was 41 years of age which was the year 1984. The painting is
about his beautiful view from his studio outlook. This artwork measures 70x80cm
with the products of oil, crayon and ink on paper on canvas, this artwork is
displayed in the Sydney museum.
Sydney Night was made by Ken at night to give us a
taste of his beautiful home and show us why he loves it. In the this painting
her gives us the elements of the city and well known features of which include
the Sydney Harbor Bridge, the Opera house and the tall lit up buildings with the fireworks going off in the sky with a big bright moon and lots of little
stars everywhere. This paining is very packed and couldn’t possibly fit
anything else so Ken Done used space very well in this painting. It also have
some squiggles and lines and it isn’t perfect lines connected it a rough
looking painting but it is still beautiful. He also uses spares as windows and
many bright colors to make it look like a night that everyone was out. This
painting uses horizontal axis. There is not symmetry and no repetition.
The artwork is about what Ken could see through his
window and that was makes it unique because of the color and vibrancy. The main
idea of this artwork “Sydney Night” was to show people that haven’t seen Sydney
for its beautiful nights what it is really like. I like this artwork a lot because it makes me
feel like I am partying in Sydney under the lit up sky. I think this is a
brilliant artwork and is definitely good enough to go in a museum because I
think when people see it they will think that Sydney is really pretty. This
painting makes me feel happy because it Is so homely and comes from the heart
and soul.
